Thanks for everyone's input on my other quill posts.

Went to my books and have one last question. (Not procrastinating on the quills, just figured I'd do another dozen light cahills first to make sure I had my proportion eye right.)

Going to go with Flick's red quill recipe from the Streamside Guide as per Dick Talleur's Trout Flies for the 21st Century page 28.

Question - AK Best (AK's Fly Box, page 4) talks about using two quills for anything #16 or larger with a smaller diameter quill wrapped first, then wrapping over with the thicker quill. The thinner is about 1/3 the diameter of the larger.

Do people double up on the quills on the larger sizes? Looking at doing #14s and #12s.

Thanks as always.

I tie quills #14 using one quill, don't tie them any larger than that

One quill save your money. I soak them well. I thinks its just me it stops them from breaking and splitting. I too nothing bigger than a #14 on the red quill.
