Came back from being on the Ausable for 3 days. Not a local but I have never seen the river so low with almost no fish in the well known spots. Fish have migrated to cooler waters down river below the dam at Wilmington. Fishing holes and pocket waters along Haselton Rd best bet. Good luck.

Just curious but do you think the fish really went over the dam in search of colder water?

Troutpunk it is possible.. Especially during a heavy vortex.. Like during a hurricane.. Fish especially brook and brown trout fingerlings stocked by the DEC..I witnessed this even when water was well below capacity.. Hope it happen s cause we need it for downstream!

Hard to imagine a trout "going over the dam" in search of colder water....thats giving the fish altogether to much intelligence ....some probably go over the dam accidentally.....but to rationaly decide to go over the dam to look for colder water....come on now , you guys are smarter than that!!!
