CDC Caddis pattern or traditional Caddis pattern - tying and fishing - preference

CDC for me......hands down more effective in the waters I dry fly fish and easier to tie IMHO.........but I'd probably give the same answer for most flies I tie and fish.

Like many answers in our money splurging sport, I'd say both. For fast water, pocket water, I love to tie up an old school curved hook, deer hair caddis with a few turns of hackle. I'll dress that with muscilin and happily prospect for hours. It's possibly my favorite way to fish.....On the other hand, flat pools would be better suited to that low rider CDC style. Here we usually insert a successful fish tale about fooling a 22" brown on the WB by using CDC but instead I'll just go back to saying how much I like prospecting with deer hair and hackle!
