Started late around 1:30 .Air temp 70 ,water temp 56. Partly cloudy. Tons of bugs-quill Gordon's ,hendricksons blue quills ,baetis ,chimarra caddis even some Hendrickson spinners. Fish were rising intermittently,no steady feeding patterns. Managed two nice browns on a ,one one a blue quill emerger (#16) and one on a bearish emerger(#18). Miss two or three fish, for the most part they were ignoring my hendricksons. Fished until 8:00,some spinners in the air,but I didn't see them on the water. Another beautiful day in the Catskills.

Nice job, I was on the Willow last Saturday for a little while, didn’t see anything rising but saw same bugs as you. What do you think they were eating ?

Not really sure. The few fish that rose two or three times within a minute or two took the baetis emerger.I tried Hendrickson nymphs, emergers and an egg laying spinner with no luck.I also tried a spent black caddis and a black iris caddis .Trying to "break the code" is always intriguing and a big part of the enjoyment of flyfishing.
